Join us for a reading and conversation about equality,
illness, race and motherhood with two prize-winning writers!
Jennifer Franklin is the author of three poetry collections, including If Some God Shakes Your House (Four Way Books, 2023), finalist for the Paterson Prize and Julie Suk Award.
Her work has been commissioned by The Metropolitan Museum, and has also been published in The Paris Review, The Nation, The Bedford Guide to Literature (Macmillan, 2024), and Poetry Society of America’s “Poetry in Motion.”
She won a Pushcart Prize, the 2024 Jon Tribble Editing Fellowship, a NYFA/City Arts Corp grant, and a Cafe Royal Cultural Foundation Award in Literature.
She is cofounder and cohost of “Words Like Blades,” an online reading series that amplifies new work by marginalized emerging writers and their mentors, and coeditor of the anthology Braving The Body (Harbor Editions, 2024).
Iain Haley Pollock is the author of three poetry collections, Spit Back a Boy (U. Georgia Press, 2011),
Ghost, Like a Place (Alice James, 2018), and All the Possible Bodies (Alice James, 2025).
He has published individual poems in American Poetry Review, The Kenyon Review, The New York Times Magazine, and The Progressive. Pollock’s work has received several honors including the Cave Canem Poetry Prize, the Alice Fay di Castagnola Award from the Poetry Society of America, a NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship in Poetry, the Bim Ramke Prize for Poetry, and a nomination for an NAACP Image Award.
He serves as Director of the MFA Program in Creative Writing at Manhattanville University in Purchase, NY.
